Is there a way to make the program not create those lists, or hide them? They are just cluttering the file browser. I am aware that you can go to history mode then revert back to delete them.

No, there is no way to prevent these from being created. You can, however, periodically "dissolve" them by shift-selecting all of them in the browser, right clicking, and choosing "dissolve"
