Thanks, @tigertooth4,

That certainly is not the expected behavior.  I haven't yet been able to reproduce it, however.  It looks like you are simply creating a dimension between two lines, but when you go to place that dimension, somehow Fusion is connecting that interaction to the existing dimension that already exists.  I'll keep trying to reproduce this, but if you have any insight into how you get into this situation (some combination of control or shift maybe, or use of the trackpad), we'd appreciate that information.

@jeff_strater you'll notice when he makes the second selection point he's holding the left mouse button down and dragging, I think that's the problem.

Ahh, thanks, @HughesTooling, I missed that.  That explains everything.  What happens if you start a drag is that you are actually ending the dimension command (and since it is not in a state yet where we can create a dimension, it is effectively a cancel), and starting a new command, which is a sketch drag.  Reviewing the video again, you can see that at this point, we are actualy in the drag command:

I agree that perhaps the dimension command could be more forgiving here or provide more feedback that you have canceled the dimension command.  We'll look into this and see what is possible.

@jeff_strater @HughesTooling Thanks for your reply!

Sorry I'm also trying to reproduce what I did in the screencast.

I was using a Macbook with the trackpad. I drew the same slot shape,

and tried to dimension things like what I did in the video. I saw the "drag"

problem a couple of times. But it happens quite randomly. Maybe it happens

in the first attempts, but it wouldn't  happen in the second attempts.

I cannot reproduce. I don't think it is a keyboard or trackpad problem.

Still not perfect, but after a lot of attempts, I feel that I should give dimension

command more confidence. It is definitely more reliable than in the previous version.

I'll report If I can reproduce again!

Thanks!

In my experience, it is certainly easier to inadvertently drag using a touchpad than a mouse, so that is probably what happened to you.  Thanks for pointing this out.

Howdy Fusion Folks,

I think I'm having a similar issue.  I'm on a MacBook Pro sitting in an airport - so using the trackpad as there is no room for a mouse here -  and I'm finding I can't dimension the location of a circle that I've sketched on a component.  I've also tried various mouse click options (e.g. control, shift, command, etc) but am unable to put a dimension from the edge of the component to the circle sketch to locate it relative to the edge.

This should be one of the most straight forward tasks one can do in a parametric MCAD package - is this a bug or a Fusion workflow quirk?

Also, I seem to recall having access to more dimensioning tools in previous releases, though it is possible I am thinking of the drawing module.

This should be pretty straightforward.  The Sketch Dimension tool should allow you to pick the circle center and an edge of the face you sketched on.  It should not depend on using a mouse or trackpad.  I made this video using the trackpad on my Windows 10 laptop:

If this is not the workflow you are trying to use, please let me know, perhaps with a video.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the screencast, I now have it working on OS X 10.10.5

When I first went back into the sketch I still couldn't get the dimension to come in, then I dragged the circle sketch around a little and suddenly it worked fine.  Although I had tried all the options (select circle first then edge, select center of circle, select edge first then center) I hadn't realized the only way to do it was to select the center of the circle sketch - so good to see that and lock it into my future workflow.
