STEP export issue

When I export a STEP file, F360 includes all surface and solid bodies made even though they are not ON (lightbulb grayed out). How can I get F360 just to export the model that is active in the viewing screen so I stop getting confused e-mails from the mold toolers?  Thanks.

delete the rest at the end of the timeline before exporting
thats the way how I did this sofar.

or split bodies into components then you can RMB export just the data inside such a component.

You have two options for exporting STEP.

  • You can export the entire document using the translator in the project data panel.  This is a good option if the file is particularly large as you can let the cloud resources chew through the translation much faster than it would happen on your desktop.
  • If you want to export a specific body(s) from a document you can combine them in a component and the right click on the component in the browser and select Export. This will use the desktop translator.

Both methods also work with IGES, SMT, SAT and F3D.

I think it is a reasonable request for Fusion to not export invisible bodies.  Do others agree?  I will explore this idea with our team, and see what it would take to fix this.

Colin those two options work however the force you to use extra steps while nearly every other CAD app has an export selected option.

The component approach forces me to make a component of the part I want to export and then RMB export it and then I have to delete the component afterwards. Imagine you have 10 objects you would like to export. I would have to do this 10 times.

While the full document export as well as component export options serve specific needs most times what I would need is not covered by those options.

Export the document I would only use when sending out the complete design.
Components only work when well I am also having components in my design already.

But when I am in a conceptual design phase I simply would like to just be able to move data forward and backwards on a per selection basis.

I think export hidden can be ignored when Fusion offers the ability to export selected only without the need to force me through temporarily generating components. This export option is also not a new idea - it is pretty old in the idea station 😉
