Splitting Error - No Intersection between target and split tool

Hi, new user so apologies for the simple question. I'm working on a car badge and I've been having trouble filleting the object, I believe due to the complexity of the faces. I've been able to tackle large portions of it by using a couple workarounds to fillet it piece by piece. For the below particular corner, there doesn't seem to be a way to fillet it down to 2mm (the target fillet distance) and/or having it mesh with the curves around it.

I thought I had come up with a clever solution when I thought I could split the body using the curvature of the face next to it, delete the newly created top body and effectively extend the fillet in a seamless way.

However, I'm getting the below error

I'm trying to troubleshoot what's gone wrong and can't seem to figure it out. I'm also open to other creative solutions to curve this corner. I thought I could potentially create a triangle with a curved hypotenuse that follows the curve of the filleted edge and then extend-delete it over the stubborn edge but can't seem to figure out how to accurately trace the curve. Thanks in advance!

I would start at Sketch2 and use arcs and lines to create the geometry.  You will get much cleaner lines. 

 

When you do use splines, use only as many points as necessary to create it.  Here is the Curvature Comb for Sketch2:

Here's an example using 3 point circles.  Use the Trim function after creating them.

Hi,

As @etfrench  has already written, a spline is unfavorable here, especially if it contains too many control points that influence each other.
This inevitably leads to problems further down the line.

This is incredible. I'll give it a shot. One note is that the S and L are conjoined in the part I'm trying to replicate in a similar way as the L and C, but that should be pretty simple to tweak. Thanks again!

Hi,

For the profile of the connection (S_L), you can use the same sketch in which the profile for L_C was created.
