Split body partial reconnect?

Can I reconnect a body that I have split in half at only two faces? I would like the highlighted faces to be reconnected leaving the other two split. Is there a different way to go about this design to achieve this?

You could extrude the face to body.

Apparently I should have mentioned the two bodies are actually components. This works on bodys perfectly. Is there a way to connect components in this way or can I convert the components back to bodies?

I deleted the component commands from the timeline and was able to extrude the face to body. Thanks
