What is the best method to upload SW files that have virtual components?  When I select the assembly file to upload it ask for the components, but they are all saved internally in the file.

I seem to remember this coming up before, and I think the answer is that virtual files aren't supported (which kind of sucks).  You could save all virtual parts out to separate files, but it's probably faster to just save the assembly as a STEP file since it will come in to Fusion as dumb solids anyway.

If these are files from a customer and you don't have Solidworks, I think you might be able to import into Onshape (sorry Autodesk!) and then export back out to STEP.

@kb9ydn Thanks.  I also found I can just pick some random file and it uploads just fine.  The file did not seem to matter, just that there was more file selected.

Lol!  So it turns out they are supported.  It's just that the uploader gets confused if you try to upload an assembly without any other parts.  How dumb is that?  Smiley Very Happy

At least it works.  And actually this could be a quick way to get large SWX assemblies into Fusion without having to select a ton of files.  If you save a copy of the top level assembly and make all the parts and subassemblies virtual, you can upload just that file into Fusion.

I just tried this and it works pretty good.
