snap sketch line to axis

Hi,

I have a complex lofting setup where I interesected multiple planes with the axis through two planes construct.

Now Im trying to aline a sketch line with the axis but it wont snap and the point to point movement also doesnt recognize the axis as a target. I cant even draw a sketch line along the axis. Is there any way to solve that?

Cheers

Hi @Sungod3000,

You have to first project the axis into the sketch using the sketch "Project" command:

sketch project.png

That will create a sketch line that is the projection of the axis, and all sketch commands should recognize the projection

yes i tried that but the only snapping i get is when i do point to point with a targeted projected point. and those are always a bit arbitrary since the the axis length can not be defined.

You're correct - point to point move will only work with points (as its name implies), and the endpoints of an axis are arbitrary.

What I think you want to to, though is constrain a point in your sketch to the projected axis' line.

Here is screencast showing the basic idea:

weird I tried the coincident constraint first. but that seems to work indeed. ill try to replicate that thanks
