Smooth Finish for Curved Text

Dear all,

I am trying to print curved text to stick on plates (for home sign boards) to sell, but the top finish has stripes/lines. Is there any way to mitigate this, or any other possible solution? I tried to flip it top-bottom but it looks worse after I peel off the support.

It looks like this now:

I also attached the STL file in case anyone is curious to try. Any suggestions or help is very much appreciated! Thank you!

You can set variable layer height or print your part in another position (you will require some supports in other faces but the aesthetic face you want will look good)

Hi,

1. for this I would first print in the curved area with a low layer height.
2. either sand the surface or print with ASA/ABS and vapour-deposit it with acetone.

Hi,

3D printing is never exact and it can be difficult to get a good finish. There are ways you can fix this with the slicer

software and the printing settings. Sometimes a hotter print will work. Sometimes hotter and slower. It really is a

case of playing around with these settings until you get it right. Try changing material. This can also affect finish.

Someone has already suggested the acetone vapour method but I think that you might need the good old fashioned

"2 seconds on the belt sander" method. If that doesn't work then a combination of that and the acetone.

I don't think there is any setting in fusion that will affect the print enough to clean this up. It is definitely a printing

issue so printing solutions will get the job done.

Cheers

Andrew
