Slider Join mechanism

 Hi all,

I am fairly new to fusion 360 and I have been struggling with a simple mechanism that was so easy on nx and solidworks.

As you can see here

Capture.PNG

I have a chuck I want to slide along with the two sliders, but I keep running into constraint problems I do not know why is happening. I made a horizontal arm slide along a grounded box, vertical arm also along a grounded box, then I just want the chuck to be able to move by being constrained by the two arms..

Also, I have a rail wheel that will be attached to the horizontal arms but no matter how I try to make them in rigid group or assign rigid contact the wheels won't just slide with the arms and just stay wherever they are.... 😞 Can someone please take a look at the file? It'll be very appreciated.

Hello,

i took a quick look at your setup, and i saw that you added a bunch of 'rigid groups'. what for?

'rigid groups are mostly used when you import an assembly, say, a IC print board with lots of semiconductors on it. you want this thing to stay together when you move it around, so you make that IC component a 'rigid group', so all constrains apply to this component 'as is'.

for your assembly:

try again making the box grounded, then add the first rail with a slider joint to the edge of the box. one side will do. orient the slider to the corrext axis. then drag it about with your mouse, it should slide freely, also outside the box.

then you can set in the dropdown menu, on the right next to the corresponding joint (under'joints') you can limit the movement in two directions from the point you set the joint. there you can set it within the box.

do so for the other rail.

dor the camera mount you probably need another joint, i guess 'slot', but not sure. you can try first add a slider joint between one rail and the camera mount. after that, you should be abele to drag the mount along the rail while dragging the rail across the box.

hope this helps for now

The rigid group was mainly between the wheels and the rail since I'd like the wheels to move with the rail as the rail slides. But I have no idea why the wheels don't slide with the rails even when I set the rigid group?
