slic3r won't accept fusion STL for multi-material feature

Hello,

I am trying to use the "Combine multi-material STL files" feature on slic3r, but it resolutely refuses to load, much less process, the STL files generated by Fusion 360.  It will load and slice the STL files as separate entities, but it won't load them for the multi-material feasture and it seems that you can't apply that capability to already loaded files.  Does antbody know anything that might help?

I've read the slic3r manual on the multi-material feature and I don't seem to have missed a check box or anything. Regrettably, slic3r doesn't appear to have a forum, because that might be a more logical place to ask about this.  I'm using slic3r 1.1.7 that I downloaded about a week ago, so I doubt it's a version problem. Also, I'm using Fusion 2.0.1407, which I believe is the up-to-date version.

I produced the STL files by right clicking the appropriate bodies one at a time in the browser and selecting the "Save as STL" option.  Is that the right way to generate STL files?

Below is a picture of the bodies and a link to share the project.

Kevin,

Thank you for your help.  I followed your video and the computing part of it worked.  It took me awhile to realize that the folder below the "Custom" selection in the 3D print dialog was how I was supposed to select slic3r, but I got there.

Tonight I'm going to screw my courage to the sticking point and try to print the result.  This will be my first print.

Kindest regards,

Bill
