Sketch texts not visible in Drawing

I have an issue regarding sketch texts not showing up in the Drawing environment.

I am placing bodies on sheets, but the people in the production need some information about the sheets like color and number of the sheets. This information is to be placed above the sheets using sketch texts.

I can show and hide sketches in the Drawing environment, but only lines, arcs etc. No sketch texts..

If I extrude the texts they are perfectly visible because they are bodies at that point.

Does anyone know if this is the intended behavior?

Cheers,

Erik

Hi Erik,

If you explode the text in the design, they should show in the drawing.  I am not sure if this is an acceptable workaround for you.  Edit the Text sketch in your design, right click on it and explode.

Best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal.

Hi @sanjay_jayabal

I tested it and it worked. The only problem is, it takes about 5 times as much time, as extruding the text which gives the same result in the drawing environment. Extruding the text already takes a fair amount of time, when one has a lot of sketch texts in the design.

Do you know wether or not the team is considering implementing the feature to show sketch text in the drawing environment.

Cheers,

Erik

Hi

This is at huge problem for us as well.

We have easily 50 texts in sketches in Design, which have to be shown in Drawing.

It isn't a good solution to put the text directly in Drawing, because they will not follow the view!

When I Extrude the text, Fusion run VERY slow and sometime even crash!!!

Can anyone help in this matter?

Best regards Knud

Hi @knudbj and @erik - I'm interested in better understanding your use cases. Can you provide some examples of the types of text content that *must* be on a sketch (versus created in a Drawing sheet)?

Hi

The three texts over the three squares have to be in the right place.
If I type the texts i Drawing, the will not follow the squares.

Hi @TimeraAutodesk, thank you for taking your time to stop by this forum post.

It is mostly simple text strings above each sheet as I wrote in the first post. All of the strings are placed using custom made routines. The sheet number (text) is placed automatically by typing the amount of sheets into a dialog in one routine whereas the texts describing color and amount of sheets are placed using another routine where sheets are selecteded with the mouse. The have no influence on the Design and are only used for information.

This is done to speed up the proces of describing the sheets though it is delayed because of the need to extrude/explode the every text for it to be visible in the Drawing environment.

I must be honest, I haven't checked whether it is possible to develop these routine for the drawing environment, but I guess it would be tricky (maybe impossible) since they are placed based on the coordinates of the sheets which are found in the Design environment.

I would be happy if you have another solution or suggestion.

Cheers,

Erik

What do you mean by "explode the text in the design" How do you do that?

One can explode text by right clicking on a sketch text object while in sketch mode and selecting the "Explode Text" option in the dropdown menu.

Just finding this thread as the problem just occurred for me with no option to "show text" anywhere I could find. Even though this thread is three years old the problem still seems to exist. In my case a drawing needs to be created to show the text that will produce a label or graphic overlay and for alignment/location. Also, exploding the text is certainly a work around and not a solution since it is a one way trip and you can no longer edit the text without starting over. I keep having to go back to AutoCAD in order to get things done. Are there any plans to correct this?

Hi,

If the text has to be visible in the drawing and editable at the same time, I would create a (minimal) extrusion in design mode.
