Sketch, Stop Sketch, Sketch...

I have asked questions and received answers but as a complete newbie to CAD, the answers (albeit very gratefully received) throw up more questions.

I've noticed that competent/expert users of Fuision 360 start a Sketch and then stop the Sketch and do some work and then start a Sketch again. It appears to be an itterative process...

What funtionality do you lose when you stop a Sketch, or is it still all available when you restart Sketch?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but some things like dimensions and centre lines etc. seem to disappear when Sketch is stopped.

Can someone please enlighten me?

Hi @Anonymous,

No question is a dumb question! 🙂

When you say "lose", it's just something you don't see. It's not entirely gone. Meaning, when you stop the sketch, you no longer see the dimensions. But if you EDIT that same sketch (from Browser tree or from Timeline), you can see that everyhting is there.

Fusion will hide certain details when you are out of the sketch so that the display is not cluttered with a lot of things which perhaps you don't need. Examples are the dimensions applied on sketch, the sketch constraints (The little icons you see next to geometries indicating stuff like perpendicularity or parallelism etc.) or tangent handles.

Hope it answers your questions and clarifies things a bit.

Feel free to let me know if you have any more ocncerns.

Thanks.

Thanks Anand, I understand. You can leave Sketch and return to Sketch and the dimensions and constraints etc. are still in place. Ok...
