Sketch Selections not limited to current sketch

Whenever I create a new component and start start a new sketch using points from an underlying non active component. When I make a selection to press pull it still see the underlying component sketch and makes me make multiple selections. This seems very unusual and awkward to deal with. For example if I create a square cube as one component then lets say I have a hole in it. Then I create a new component and start a new sketch using the corner points of the base component as reference. If I then want to push pull what should be a complete closed sketch native to this component, I still have to select both the outer part and inner part of the hole. Why would the hole be a second selection if it is in its own sketch and component?

I think you might be seeing autoprojected lines created when you sketch on a face. Experiment with one or both of the Auto project options off.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I found a workaround. Just create a new plane and sketch from there or select one of the native planes. That will also work
