SKETCH EDIT HISTORY

I`m wondering, if you will add "sketching history" to program ?

I`m usually using complicated sketch and next i`m work on extruded model.

But when i want to make changes (like add some line BEFORE i make mirror, or pattern on sketch), i have to re-sketch some part of my design.

It will be a huge advantage !

Cheers !

Can you be more specific regarding the complicated sketches you are working with?
A screen cast will be very helpful to see your challenges.

Hi,

In fact its my idea of designing.

I prefer to make most of information on one sketch, and then extrude it.

When i sketching something, i prefer to make MIRROR and PATTERN  features on sketch mode.

so - i want to change or add something to sketch BEFORE pattern or mirror - its not possible.

That why capture sketching history will be awesome and handy tool for me.

cheers

Mirror sketches is ok, but patterning sketches it's a whole different story. In F360 it's referred to pattern features and not sketches. It is much better for performance.
It sounds you are coming from another cad program and want to continue with your workflow. Try to get to know F360 first and DON'T compare it to other cad programs.
I used to work like you with a main sketch, but it's really not necessary in F360.

Anything you need just let us know.

Hi @spajda.pl,

I think I understand the point that you are making here.  I suspect that most of your concern would be solved if sketch just had an "edit pattern" capability, which it does not today.  That feature is on our list to implement, certainly.

But, to address your original question:  We do not have any plans to introduce sketch history any time soon.  We feel it would complicate the sketching process so much that it would not be a good tradeoff for most people.

One recommendation, though:  In general, @Beyondforce is correct - if you try to create a very complex sketch, you will likely run into performance problems.  Fusion works better with simpler sketches.  So, rather than one large sketch, I would stick to multiple simpler sketches, if your design allows it.  The use of feature and body patterns, in my experience, is preferable to sketch patterns, for instance.

Thanks for input, guys !

In fact i use F360 as designing tool for 3D prints.

Sometimes dependences are so complicated, and i need to make  a TONS of adjustments (after printing, change diameter, add line, etc).

So its way mor easier for me to make it on one sketch, with key dimensions listed to make "quick adjustments" in 3-4 dimensions rather to search in bodies and features to make this changes with body, and jumping over all sketches.

I have to think differently, but editing base sketch is way more easier than editing features in history.

Cheers !

Hi @spajda.pl,

You are right, if you work on F360 like you did with previous CAD programs, then F360 will not be fun to work with. But, F360 is not like other CAD programs (obviously). I noticed, you are using the word "Bodies" a lot. It's interesting because in F360 a "Body" is a tool which helps to create a Component (a Part).

If you will follow R.U.L.E #1you will see not only that it's much easier to work with F360, but it also makes more sense!

If you don't know what R.U.L.E #1 means, then check out these videos:

Let me know i know if you have more questions.

Cheers / Ben

Hi Ben,

In fact i still (maybe i will get rid of this) create components from one sketch 🙂

I got no other idea how to create adjustable gap between parts/components with 2 or more sketches.

on one sketch i can easily make all adjustment in one place - and this will affect all components i will create.

That why i will stuck with advanced sketchings for a while 🙂

Cheers!

Hello - Did this get implemented? I can see the pattern in the sketch tool references the original geometry selected (as in if this is edited, the instances change) but I can't see how to edit feature and change count, spacing and geometry included etc?

Thanks

Yes, you can now edit a sketch pattern, change the number of instances, spacing, etc:

Thanks, I would not have found that!
