Simulation generating not generating meshes properly

Hi

I've designed a 12' snow plow for a tractor and I'm trying to run a couple of simulations on it. The meshes fusion is generating are wrong and I can't get anything solved. Some bodies don't show up while others that are suppressed do. It seems there's some weirdness going on with suppressing and enabling bodies under components.

Should I be separating my parts out to components instead of having a bunch of bodies under a few different components?

Here's a picture demonstrating what I'm talking about. Body 29 is selected and active but didn't generate a mesh. Body 26 is supposed to be supressed but has a mesh generated for it. Also while I was first trying to get a mesh generated it told be that "Body 6" under another component was too thin, but It was a 3x3x3/16 tubing section. so to be sure I fixed it I deleted that body and made a new one only to have the same error. Turns out that the part that the error was talking about wasn't name "Body 6" but rather was the 6th body down in the list of bodies on that component.

The error I'm seeing seems to me like the mesh generator sees that 18/20 bodies are enabled on this component so it generates meshes for the first 18 bodies found under it rather than the 18 bodies that are enabled.

Well I got a solved simulation out of my model. I just separated out the few bodies that needed to generate meshes as a workaround, but the coding issue is still there.

Hi @WestonMFG

Sorry to hear about the meshing problem that you are having, but that sounds like some good detective work on your part (meshing the first N bodies regardless of whether they are suppressed or not, instead of meshing the N bodies that are not suppressed.)

You should not need to separate out the components, but I think your problem may be related to another problem that has been reported regarding suppressed bodies. The other report was related to contact, but my guess is that the contact problems were because the wrong parts were meshed as you discovered. I check to make sure that we understand the problem with the suppressed bodies and how the mesh is not working.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone.

I have an update on the problem reported by @WestonMFG. The cloud solve version has been fixed, and the local solve version should be fixed soon. Here's what you can do in the mean time:

Cloud Solve

If you are going to solve the analysis on the cloud, it will work if you do not mesh the model before submitting it for the solve. (The problem occurs when meshing the model.)

Local Solve

If you are going to solve the analysis locally, the work around is to Remove the components that you want to suppress. This is done in the design work space. When you return to the Simulation workspace, there will not be any suppressed components, so the local solve (and meshing) will work.

Let us know if you have any questions or problems.

Thanks for checking this out! I've been really impressed with Fusion for the last 2 weeks that I've been previewing it. I don't want to go back to using inventor ever! 😛
