Simulation Error when creating Mesh with simple component

I get a self intersection and face interior meshing error with the attached file. The component is a simple one.

There is something about the splines that is causing a problem. It could be due to their length or the area of the face. I was able to mesh the model with a mesh size of 20 mm, and it shows some elements that are abnormally small and large.

When I see such problems (in other software), I usually split the faces to create smaller arcs/splines and areas. For example, I used the Simplify environment to split the faces into a number of smaller regions. (Split all 4 faces: the front, back, inside, and outside surfaces.) A mesh size of 20 mm worked with just a few regions of slightly smaller mesh.
