Shortening Line

I have a curved line that i need to shorten 2.98 inches and I can't seem to figure out how. I have included a screenshot of the curve. Basically I need to keep the shape of the curve, but I need the line shortened. Any help would be amazing!

The function I am hoping to use would be the same as the "lengthen" feature in autocad.

There is no command for that, that I know of,

Can't tell what size anything is in the screengrab, but if the first arc from the red marker is longer than 3" then you will have to do the maths,

if it is shorter, then noting what lenght it is, and then move along the straight section to make up the distance.  Cut the line there, and delete the curve.
