Shortcut for setting camera pivot, pan on mac/trackpad

I constantly use shift + 2-finger slide on my mac's trackpad to reorient my model. The camera pivot is always in the center of my object, which isn't usually what I want. I know I can right-click and reset the camera pivot, but that's pretty tedious. I thought at one point it was much easier to change the camera pivot. Like option clicking on a point or something.

A related question. I find the natural-navigation settings for two-finger pan to be super slow. Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching between Select and Pan (and back)?

Thanks

Hi @bentwookie,

Unfortunately, with the Mac trackpad, I don't think this will be doable. If you were using a mouse (that had a middle mouse button), Shift + MMB (just clicking once) would set the orbit center. Since the trackpad (to my knowledge) has no option for a MMB then the right-click option is the best bet.

Regarding the panning - I run into this too on my Mac (I use the trackpad as well). Although there is no direct shortcut, I find that hitting the Escape key will clear my last command (so the selection in this case) and then two finger panning. I don't normally notice it being very slow however.

Thanks,

What I ended up doing was install the settings panel from here. With that, I was able to map three-finger tap to middle mouse button click. Now I can set the pivot point.
