Hi,

I have a try about the sheet metal function in fusion360. I notice that when the flange edge is adjusted by movie->set pivot point, the flat pattern cannot be create correctly. Is it I doing something wrong here?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for your post and sorry for your experience with Sheet metal fusion.

I have checked your attached object file where you modify the flange by using move by set pivot point, because of that operation two corner relief gets messed up

So its not able to make flat pattern for attached object file which contain the intersecting flanges at corner.

If still you want to continue, then instead of using move you can modify that flange in unfold or you can modify by using distance-angle chamfer operation.

Also there one more way you can do that change ...where you can use draft feature and Top face as Plane and flange side face as Faces provide the required angle then there you don't face any flange intersection.

But definitely I will look into your move by set pivot point operation and discuss with Dev How to reduce this messed up.

Please let me know If need any more Help.

Thanks,

Sagar

Hi,

I have another flat pattern error question: When I went back in the timeline on a part and created a new series of construction steps to modify the part design, I ended up with a flat pattern issue. When I try to flatten the part, it partially flattens as if there is a link that is broken between the original body and the new one.

The modifications that I created were built in a combination of the sheet metal and model environments. - mainly simple flange creation, with no fillets at this point.

Is there a way to repair the part by taking is through the design sequence to look for (or try to automatically detect and repair my error). I can't see anything obvious, or where something is broken.

In the future when I re-construct from a point in the timeline (in sheetmetal), what are the std ways to ensure I don't break something in the folding routine?

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
