Sheet Metal Issues and Bugs

I am starting a new thread that concerns possible Bugs or Issues with Fusion Sheet Metal that we find, or think we find, as we use it.

We were going out of scope on this other thread below.

You just sent me the hot tips link from yesterday. Is there something I need to see in that video?

---

So, I am having trouble getting the Sheet Metal component to change colors with Appearance.

Is there something I don't know about here concerning this issue?

Look at the 1 min mark he changes the view type to shaded, I could only get it to show appearances after doing that.

Well, that sounds like a bug.

My subscription just stopped working. I have 4 more months to go, but it says the subscription has expired.  Weird. I had cleared out my temp files in the last 12 hours.

I emailed Promm about it.

What is the downside of using Tear corner reliefs?   Same for Trim to Bends?

Long-term, which will survive the longest best without stress fractures or bending?

What is commonly used?

I am bending 0.090" 5052-90 degrees as well as 0.063" 5052-H6 90 degrees.

Keeping in mind fracture propagation reduction.

Just found this:

Take a look.  Inside this corner is my 700V HV power supply.  I can't have someone pointing a wire into this corner relief.

Here is a corner on an identical enclosure.

What I want to know, is how do I get this tight corner relief.

The cage that we are looking at is the same as mine. This unit is made by a friend of mine... a friend who lets the shops handle the sheet metal.  I emailed him, but he will now know about this.  It looks like he uses a cut, then bend with no relief.  Can we do that with Fusion Sheet Metal?  It doesn't look like there is any corner relief at all.   He has a wrap around, like me, then a back panel like me.  Then we both have top and bottom covers.  Actually, he told me how to do this.  The cage was designed by a power supply company 20 years ago.

My friends enclosure.

My enclosure in solid.  I cannot change the colors in Sheet Metal so far.  So it all looks like a grey mass.

Exactly the same, but for the corner relief.

Still can't use Appearance to change the color of the aluminum.  It all just looks like led and it blends together so you can't see the components clearly like before.

I think I have been able to resolve the bend radius hole problem I was talking about above.  I had to use these settings for the back plate.

I mentioned all of this to Promm.  We will see what happens.

It seems to be working the changing Appearance that is, what I tried last time bringing in a sheet metal part that has been painted works now last week when I tried the same thing it failed I had to go back and edit it to change to the set Appearance.

It seems to be working as it should with going back and changing the Appearance then saving the part going back to the drawing and updating the Appearance. I still think you may just have bugs or something like that.

I have done a screencast for you but that is not working I cant go in and grab the link for it. I will post it when I can get at it.

This is not what I am talking about.  First off, you need to start with a flange... as in Sheet Metal.  That is where the issues are.  Next, you have too many colors in your selection box.  I don't think Fusion likes it when you have over 2 or 3.   Third, there is no way that I should need to go into Drawing to make appearance work in Model or Sheet Metal.

In conclusion, this is not the issue I am having. Appearance works fine with Solids in Model.  Just not in Sheet Metal with a Flange construction.

Sorry I thought that's what you meant, a lest you know that works.Smiley LOL

It still just does the default material you set in preferences, you have to go in and set the physical material if you need to change the material, if you need the appearances changed you use appearances to do it, the limiting appearances that has not been a problem for a long time.

That part was a sheetmetal part you can change the physical material and appearances in any of the work spaces that has that action.

They need to add a set material in the rules and colour for those that need it, or add color cycling to sheet metal parts this would solve the issue, you would be doing it there and then and not have to goto a different drop down and set it then going to another one if you wont the appearances changed.

So, I just tried Appearance again.  It seems to be working now.  That is great news.  When everything is flat I cannot tell the difference between components.

I am having a real problem here.  First I found that moving a component to another folder was getting really, really slow.  It was taking about an hour to move from one folder to another.   So, I felt maybe I had too many folders with components on the cloud.  I decided to delete about 20 component files from the Browser in a folder that I was not using anymore. This turned out to be a disaster.  It has been 40 hours now and the files still show buffering circles spinning.  I can't stop it.  I shut down Fusion, then brought it back up and nothing had changed.  Sill buffering circles spinning. So I am stuck.  I can't delete these files and I can't stop the delete action either.  I can see my router blinking away when Fusion is up and running, with the buffering circles spinning, but nothing is deleting.   Is there a way to stop the delete command I sent?   My broadband is working fine for everything else.  Could it be fusion's cloud has a problem?  I don't know what to do.

You go through your A360 account to remove files.

@jeff_strater can you advise on this please, I know it will be easy for you.
