Shape Optimization - Yield and Buckling

Hello All,

 

I am designing a "bridge" to support the highest peak load as it is crushed past the point of failure. I attempted to use the "Shape Optimization" feature in Fusion 360. However this returns the stiffest part for a given amount of material, which is similar to what I want but not exactly the same. There are two questions I have:

  1. Does the shape optimization take into consideration how the part may deform under load and optimize for that? I assume it can not because I have been told that the magnitude of the load force used in Shape Optimization does not change the result (when you are using only a single force).
  2. In real life it seems the bridge fails by buckling before it fails due to yielding. Is there some Autodesk software that can do Topology Optimization or Shape Optimization that optimizes stiffness and buckling modes at the same time? I believe that Nastran can do stiffness + vibration modes at the same time but I am not sure if it can do stiffness+buckling.
