Selecting center point pivot in Move command

I am trying to rotate a square tubing component around the center-point of the square profile. When using the Joint command I am able to select the center-point by placing the mouse on the face, holding CTRL and then selecting the center point that appears. This is not the case in the move command. Although I am able to see the point when I hover the mouse over the face, I cannot select the center-point as my pivot point to perform the rotation operation.

I have tried pressing CTRL, ALT, and Shift; all with no success. See the screencast below.

Your help to select this center-point is appreciated.

Here is an idea: create a sketch using construction lines and points to set the point about which you would like to pivot/move.  In this case there is no need to use dimensions, as the geometry will hold things in place, but if the object was more complex, dimensions might be required.

Then initiate the "Move" command and select the sketch point you created as the pivot point.

This may not be the fastest way to accomplish this, but it works.

@neljoshua,

thank you for your prompt response and for sharing your workaround. I can definitely use the method you provided. The example in the screencast was great.

I think perhaps I should post this problem as a suggestion for improvements of the software as it could improve the workflow in certain tasks.
