selecting area for push pull operation

Hi. I started out by drawing a football. I then used decal operation to put the dallas logo on it. Traced out the star using line command. Then used offset to make several other stars, each inside the other. I then seleted the decal and deleated it leaving me with the football and the star outlines. I want to leave the inner most star as the highest star and move each successive star lower then the previous one. I selected the space between the two stars and used the push pull operation to push the selected area down. When l tell it to lower that area it cuts that area out and all the other star outlines disapear. I need to be able to see the stars to select them to lower the next area down. Does not matter if I start from the inside or the outside. Any help would be apprciated. Pictures attached. Hope this was clear to you.

Have you tried turning on the light bulb to enable the visibility of the sketch after doing the extrude?

To do that, try selecting the light bulb icon next to the sketch you want to see. I hope that helps!

Thanks,

About 3 weeks ago you helped me out with a drawing problem that was very easily fixed by you. Now three weeks later I am still working on a different problem. I am trying to mill the football.

SHORT STORY: Just tell me how to mill this **** thing. I know I am making most of the correct selections.

LONG STORY VERSION 3:

No matter what operator I try to use under CAM I keep getting errors. It is not a pocket, 2d contour, slot, trace or anything else. I have tried 2d and 3d and just can not get it to do anything right. To refresh your memour I have a football with three different levals of the star on it. I figured out a lot of things not to do but can not figure out what the heck I need to do. I tried to use the stock contours and that allows me to pick the area I want to mill but then later tells me that I do not have a pocket picked. Sometimes it tells me that I do not have the correct depth set. So many different errors I can not list them all. I have attached several pictures. I want to leave the inner most star alone. "Stock heigth". Then next star out I want to drop down 1/10th of an inch. I have tried to use both positive and negative numbers but neither one work. Then the 3rd star out I want to drop another 1/10th of an inch. I know it has to be a negitive number because it is below where I have the triad of arrows (X,Y,Z) which is located at the stock (work piece) top, left and closest to the operator in the Y. Again it just can not be this darn hard. I have watched 100s of not 1000s of videos by now and do not even know what to call this.

I am choosing 1/8" flat bottom bit.The area I am trying to cut is just over 1/8" wide. No fluid, Try to select the geometry but have some trouble getting that right some times. I was getting all kinds of different things selected from one line to the whole screen. tried both positive and negative for bottom of cut. 1/10th deep. several passes. Once again it just can not be this darn hard. You made it so simple to correct my drawing of the item. I really do thank you for your help.

LAST OPTION: Just shoot me now!!!!

A question like this may be better posed in the CAM board for the Fusion 360 community, link below.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/computer-aided-machining-cam/bd-p/2070

There are experts over there that are waaaaaay more talented than me over there. Since the CAM in Fusion is similar to HSM products, you may also be able to get help over in that forum as well.

Either way, challenge accepted!  Below is a link to a screencast of me giving it my best effort.  The only advice I can give is to select a stock contour that represent the 2D area you are concerned with machining and then select the coutour selections in a way to limit/define this overall area. I broke each level into a separate operation for simplification.

See this video for more:

I hope that helps!

I had planned on seperating each layer as you did. Selecting the different areas to machine was my biggest problem. Thank you so much for your time and now to the videos. THANK YOU

Thank you so much. I think I was maybe I was giving it to much information and thus causing errors. Big Kudos.
