Sculpt workspace - Weld option in revolve

Sculpt workspace - Weld option in revolve

Hi,

I'v modeled a planar T-spline surface and modified an edge.

I've then selected that edge as a revolve profile respect to Z axis:

I've activated weld option.

I was assuming it would weld planar surface and revolved surface edges.

It's not really the case, since editing revolved surface reveals that edges are not welded:

What is that option intended for ?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting in the community!

I tested this option to see how it should work but I was not able to see at this time.

So I am discussing this internally, and I will circle back here once I have information to share!

In the meantime, can you please try "Merge Edge" in the MODIFY menu on this if you have not?

Thank you.

If you create a revolve where the vertices at the start,m or end (or both) align with the revolve axis, after the revolve is completed this would weld these vertices at the poles together.

As Peter explained, the Weld option affects the poles of the revolved body. If they connect, the vertices are welded. I attached a video showing the difference.
