Screencast, public?, unlisted? or private? for visibility on forum

Untill now I used public.

Received a request to change this setting.

When I use unlisted is it still visible on the forum?

What says the word "unlisted"

regards,

Pieter

Hi Pieter - 'unlisted' means that it won't appear in search results, but the video can still be accessed using a direct link, so it should still be visible on the forum. Does this help explain the option?

Thanks!

Thanks

Now a little test

I now made a screencast unlisted and added the link.

This should be the way to work on the forum?

regards,

Pieter

It's totally up to you if you want the recording to be public or unlisted.

Did you upload the video on this thread? I can view it without any problems Smiley Happy

I'd be interested to hear who made that request.

I've made over 200 screencasts and all of them are set to public.

In the mail from Autodesk screencast there was a remark : Change your setting.

Thats why I did an attempt to place it unlisted on the forum.

In a post you can ad a screencast URL

however when pasting the url it is refused.

So I will go on as started, all screencast to publish public

Thanks

I've tried inserting unlisted screencasts into Forums posts and I always get the following error:

Not a Screencast URL. Please insert a public Screencast.

This implies it must be set to public.

Also, I always wait until I get the confirmation email before attempting to paste screencast URL into a post.

*note posted twice by mistake. It would be nice if one could delete one's own posts.

Strange...I've never seen that happen, pretty much all the videos I record and post here are unlisted (out of habit). Sounds like there's a bug somewhere.

How are you inserting the videos, are you able to make a video of your steps?

I could make an unlisted video but then I wouldn't be able to insert it Smiley Happy

Generally though, I wait until the confirmation email (subject: Your unlisted Screencast is ready) and simply take the shorten URL supplied (e.g http://autode.sk/2kpf4ar) and paste it into the input field where it says Paste a Screencast URL.

Alternatively, there's also a "My Screencasts" tab which has a dropdown for my public casts. However, unlisted casts don't appear in that dropdown either.

(and while we are on this area, there's a little circle icon next button to my Public Screencasts which doesn't do anything)

Here's my public screencast of me trying to paste in an unlisted video (as well as question icon not working)

Just an FYI for anyone wanting Screencast help (or would like to give feedback to the team responsible for the tool), there is a dedicated forum here.

I have posted a couple hundred Screencasts, both unlisted and public.

I think the Embed Code includes a bit more information than a mere Link.
