Scale to an exact dimension?

Hey guys, the file is available for download here: http://a360.co/1BCgBt7

I imported a solidworks part file into F360 then traced this shape so I can create an extrusion. I need the part to be exactly 4" tall, with the width being proportionally scaled as well. The regular Scale tool only scales by a factor, and not to a dimension (this seems weird to me). I tried selecting the bottom most line and the top most line and tried to set dimension (see the screenshot below), but then I get an error that the sketch is over defined (which also confuses me, because it appears there are no constraints in this drawing?).

If someone could show me how to increase the overall size of this drawing to 4" tall and whatever width, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!!

Hello Russtuff,

Maybe there are better ways but I did it like this:

Extrude your sketch, you can choose any thickness.

Modify-Scale the extruded bodies by entering 4/2.64 in the factor box (=1.5151).

Hope is of any help.

Best regards,

Ludo

I haven not actually used that method, but I figured it would work. I assume there is a more elegant solution I should be using going forward, as this seems more like a workaround. If this is the only way to get it done, then that's what I'll do.

Thanks 🙂

Hi russtuff,

No problem, and you're welcome.
