Saving drawing and parent model as a separate drawing

Is it possible to save the parent model and the associated drawing as another model and drawing?

For example, I am designing door sets, both parts have the exact same features and annotations, with only difference being the size of the door. I need both the 3D model and drawing to be saved as another part, with the association between the model and drawing remaining.

As there is a lot of annotations it would save me a lot of time if I was able to do the above.

Is there a way to do this?

Yes this is possible, it is only possible with one model/drawing at a time and it is a bit convoluted but if your drawing is detailed and the changes are minor, it is well worth the effort.  Follow the Screencast.
