Running FEA simulation from .STL file

Hey y'all, I am new to Fusion 360.

I have a few skull models in .stl format that I am trying to fun FEA analysis on. I cleaned up and solidified the models in Meshmixer. The skull is in parts.

I inserted the .stl into Fusion 360 and try to do simulation, but the model was not showing up in the simulation.

I have tried remeshing to quad in other programs, but still failed to convert into Tspline.

I have no idea what went wrong. I have attached the .stl file.

If someone can shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi chiwang,

Fusion Simulation supports simulation of solids. So if  you can convert the STL (triangles) into a water-tight solid then it should show up in the Sim workspace and you should be able to simulate it.

After I open the file I can Right Mouse button in the browser on the Mesh and convert it to a body. Then when I go to Simulation workspace I can apply loads and constraints on a body with thousands of faces. However I do not recommend simulating with this workflow. The mesh will fail with self-intersection error. The conversion of mesh to body just created faces for all the triangles and you have innumerable faces.

So if you have converted the mesh to a solid in another software system and try that would be greatly appreciated.
