rough imported 3D scan

I have 3D scanned a part that is no longer made to try to recreate using a 3d printer. I'm new to fusion and still learning all the different tools there are. The 3D scan, when imported as a model, has some pretty rough surfaces and not smooth like I imagined they would come out. It seems there are tools I can use to maybe smooth those surfaces out, I just do not know how to use them properly.

Thanks

Can you share your Fusion 360 that includes your 3D Scan...As far as you know is the scan correctly dimensioned in your file?...I mean is 50mm scanned part 50mm?

This s not a beginner project.

The scan will be used only as reference along with the actual parts and calipers to model the geometry.

Are you running on Windows OS or on a Mac OS?

I might be able to get that posted tonight. No it is not so scale when I import the file. I have to scale it around 5000% to get it to dimension.

I very much agree this is not a beginner project! I have at least 80% of the technical drawing with dimensions finished on paper. Although, it was proving very difficult to recreate properly with my limited experience on the program. Running on windows.

The purpose to use a 3D scan was to avoid having to recreate the model manually and import the file directly into my slicer program for my 3D printer. Yet, like I mentioned, the model was too rough and figured I could use fusion to clean it up.

FYI - you can use the Windows commands Shift Win S (screen capture) and Ctrl v to Paste screen images.

As you are finding out - there is no Easy Button solution.

I recommend that you Attach your effort here.

This geometry isn't trivial - but it isn't all that complex either.  About middle of the scale from trivial to complex (if the scale doesn't go up into the realm of organic living organisms).

I should be able to get that data together and post tonight.

Thanks

Here is the link to view the model:

https://a360.co/40wUSFH

I guess my (rough) technical drawings are more at 50% as I have two sides and mostly just the simplest of dimensions completed.

File is not downloadable.

Use Mesh Section sketches, to augment the diagrams you have already.

Might help....

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

@TheCADWhisperer

Here is that .f3d file

I do plan on doing another scan of the part soon to see if I can create a better result using different lighting and making sure each picture is captured well.

Accepted solution

Example of how to do such a thing.

Sketches are not defined, for click drag editing.

No draft, and 3 features internally, not done, rest is symmetric, but you can give them ago.

Early in the timeline, had to move and scale for use on the Origin.

That's impressive, and I did not expect an assist like that. much appreciated for the head start.
