Rotate an image via the X, Z or Y-axis

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and also a new user of Fusion (Design).

How I can place an image (working drawing) on a planar face or sketch plane is clear to me. I can effortlessly move an image placed on an XZ-plane via the X and Z-axis.

But, I just can't get my finger behind the method to rotate the same image from the origin point to the Z-axis.

Is this possible and if so of course the question "How do I do that" 🙂

Thanks in advance for your response...

Hi,

There are a couple of ways to insert an image in fusion. You can insert a Canvas to use as a reference like this:

Or insert a Decal in a similar way:

The basic difference between the two is that a canvas is in the background and can be made visible or transparent

or anywhere in between and is typically used to assist with modelling. A decal is literally a picture that you can put

onto the surface of a body and makes it look pretty. Normally you do any rotations and resizing when you import

them and don't typically move them around after.

I would strongly recommend that you do the embedded tutorials in the Fusion Documentation and also some of the

Self-Paced Learning to help you to learn fusion faster and better. They can be found here:

It is also much easier for the forum to help you if you attach your file AND a screenshot of what you want to achieve

and what the problem is. You can create a file to export like this:

Time spent on the tutorials and self paced learning will not be wasted. Also check out the three RULES that are pinned to the forum for further guidance.

Cheers

Hello @Drewpan Andrew,

Thanks for your quick and extensive response!

The documentation as well as the Self-Paced Learning looks very complete and well-maintained. I will definitely use it for my learning process.

Regarding placing an example image (working drawing) the following: during my preparation for the design I often place the example on both the X, Y and Z axes in order to be able to rotate and orient easily and quickly.

The use of the Canvas Insert Tool is of course perfectly suited for this. It only requires some extra actions (and therefore time) during the preparation to first create new planes with Offset Plane from the Origin point and then place the drawings in them.

Hence my question whether it is also possible to easily rotate an image/canvas over all axes.

Regards, Jan-Willem
