Rib Creation and Message Diagnosis

I am a little confused by the way in which you create ribs. As the attached file illustrates; in order to create the support ribs, I had to create a rectangle on an offset plane, then project it as a solid to the next surface, then create an axis and a circular pattern to create the balance of the ribs. Please point me to where this task can be created more efficiently, as this is a fairly common set of features across one of our new product lines.

Also, I fail to understand the meaning behind the apparent errors in Sketch#4; and therefore how to correct them.

Any help would be appreciated.

For the rib tool, you are sketching from the wrong plane. The rib extrudes across the sketch plane, not perpendicular to it. Feel free to look at how I constructed the sketch I used for this rib.

As for the sketches, you can fix lost projections pretty easily by right-clicking the sketch in the timeline and going to manage projections. There you can re-link the edges to the required geometry. Besides fixing sketches in that manner, I encourage you to make sure that your sketches are always fully defined. It will prevent a lot of lost projections during reactive edits in earlier timeline events.

I understand your issue and agree that the rib tool can be confusing. As @ritste20 pointed out, the rib tool allows you to draw the side profile of your rib and thicken it perpendicular to the plane, which is great if you want a rib on an angle or with an arc, but not helpful if you just need something simple with many ribs.

What you want in this case is the web tool, in which you simply draw lines - typically centre-lines - for your ribs, and then thicken them to a specified thickness, as well as extending them down, typically to the next surface, which the tool will usually do automatically.

This work great examples like this and is easier to use than the rib tool. I can envision this being used 95% of the time.
