Revolve: Select axis

OK, I was hesitant to ask this for fear of coming off as a HUGE noob, but...

In the revolve feature, I am trying to select a circular feature (extrude) as the axis of my revolution, and it doesn't work. Was that always like that? Did it work before the update? Am I thinking of Solidworks?

I'm pretty sure it worked before... No?

Fusion has never allowed you to select a cylinder as an axis for Revolve.  There has not been a change in this area that I can remember.  You need to select a  sketch line or a work axis as the Revolve axis

Best practice would be to sketch components on an origin so center lines, faces are always available. If they don't fit, you can create construction elements. In your case Construction -> Axis Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus might do the trick.
