RESOLVED - "The file you are trying to open is currently being saved by..."

Hello F360 Community,

We just recently discovered an issue where some users will experience an error message when trying to open a file that says "The file you are trying to open is currently being saved by..."

image001.png

It appears that this only affects users who created versions of data between Sunday night and Tuesday morning. This issue is specific to users who who work across multiple computers or who collaborate on their projects. We are currently aware of the issue and treating this with the highest priority to fix this.

Workaround:

  • Log onto the original machine that saved this file as well as the account it is being saved by
  • Make a modification to the file and save a new version. Ensure this version gets saved successful (circle stops spinning in the data panel)
  • Have others try to open the file now

In certain situations this workaround will not work. We have found that users who have an assembly with XREF's need to try a different procedure. If the model is an assembly, it could be a sub-component that has the issue.

  • Log onto the original machine that saved this file as well as the account it is being saved by
  • Make a modification to each of the sub-components and save those
  • Open the master assembly file
  • Do a Get All Latest
  • Save the master assembly
  • Have others try to open the file now

I apologize for the disruption of your work as well as the headaches that have ensued from this. We appreciate your patience and the diligence of you guys in helping us find and fix this error. We are currently working on fixing this and are working on a server side clean up of this issue so that you guys will not need to manually perform this workaround.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need help to get productive again.

As soon as I have another update, I will post it here!

Thanks again F360 Community!

I had this problem this morning (wish I'd seen this thread)!

Note that we did try your first workaround and it did not work. I had my colleague save a new version and I still had the same error. Eventually, in frustration I had to promote an old version of the file on my own machine and save that, losing time and work on the assembly.

UPDATE: I just got word that this has been resolved and a server side fix has been deployed. All of your files should not have this issue anymore and should be able to be opened. If you still are unable to, please forward me a new set of log files to james.youmatz@autodesk.com.

Thanks,

Hey James,

I'm sorry to tell you, but the error is still there. My collegue saved a version Wednesday evening, and on Thursday morning I'm receiving the very same error.

This is very inconvenient, since my collegue won't be in office the entire day, meaning I can't access the latest version ?

Could you please fix this bug?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Florian Kassel

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Do you mind going to the Help menu within Fusion 360 and collecting your diagnostic log files and posting them here? This should give me a better idea of what is happening.

Thanks,
