replace missing projection

I changed some things, naturally, so now I need to fix some broken references of course.

First, it's pretty nice you can see the missing reference in yellow. Except that the reference seems to always be Behind what I'm using it for. So If my drawings were complex, I'd probably never find the missing reference.

Is there a trick to finding those?

More importantly, can you redefine a projection? The projection is missing. But it uses the cached value. I just want to select that and say, "use this point/line/etc. instead."

Is there a way to do that? Or do I just have to delete the cached value, project a new one, and relink whatever I was using it for? It definitely seems that this is an area that could use some usability improvement.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting! Are you referring to the project command in the sketch mode? If so, personally I am not aware of a way to redefine sketch for project.

If this is not what you mean, would you be able to some screenshots or screencast

Thank you for sharing the video. That's what I was having to do. Only, I had lots of other things going on, so it wasn't nearly that simple.

In my case, I was referencing a point, with a point snapped to it. So the point was yellow to indicate that it was missing, but the other point was on top of it. So you couldn't see it.

So the programmers should probably either bring them to front, or have the yellow slightly larger so the users understand there is a missing reference behind.

It would also be nice to have a temporary view that would show you all of the missing references. Basically, hide, or fade most everything else away, so you can see the missing pieces very clearly. Sometimes they are difficult to find.

The HUGE downside to having to delete your object, and create a new one? Well, that reference may be referenced again at a later time. So you sequentially break whatever you're working on. I would Much rather select the object with the missing reference, and say, "change reference". In fact, even if the reference exists, it would be nice to be able to do that. Shoot, maybe you just selected the wrong part in the first place.

A few times, I wanted the point referenced at a 4 way intersection. But there was a small fillet as well. A couple times, I didn't zoom in (because every once in a while zooming just Really screws up with the wheel) and accidentally selected the intersection of the fillet really close to the intersection I actually wanted.

Currently I'd have to delete that, create a new one, and redo whatever dimension to that I may have had. I'd rather keep all my dimensions and just tell Fusion to change that point's original reference. That just makes So much more sense.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback! I understand what you mean and I believe that would be a great enhancement request. Please consider submitting your idea to the Fusion IdeaStation forum, which is constantly monitored by developers and product managers, and is currently the most effective way to request a product enhancement:

Other forum users will have the opportunity to Vote or add Kudos to the Idea. Votes on an idea will increase the likelihood that an idea will be implemented.

@Anonymous,

I agree with you that this is an important missing piece of Fusion, because there is really no way today to fix up broken sketch projections.  In a class that @TrippyLighting and I did at AU last year, we covered this topic a bit.  Some suggestions on repair can be found in the handout for this class:  Fusion Tips and Tricks.  But, as you can see, there are no good answers here.  This is an area that I, personally, would like to fix, simply because there is no good workaround.  The IdeaStation entry for this has already been created:  provide-an-interface-for-fixing-broken-projections, but so far has only 16 votes.  So, the more people we can get to vote for this, the better!

It would also be great if you could select only 1) Projected items , 2) Missing projected items
