Has this ever been looked at? Extremely useful tool that was asked about 4 years ago.

The IdeaStation link you supplied refers to creating multiple instances of a component.  Your title refers to features.  If you are referring to components, there is an ongoing project that we call "Copy with Joints", which will allow you to paste multiple instances of a component which has a Joint to other components, and fix up the Joint references as you go.  This is not exactly what the IdeaStation post was about, but is in the general direction.
