Removing Components and Bodies from Assembly to reduce Loading Times

I am currently working on an assembly that has multiple complex components and bodies. However, I realized I only need only a certain number of those components to create the assembly. Is there any way to remove the components and bodies to reduce initial loading times? Also, if by removing any of these will the original model be affected ?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi @aedelatorre, thanks for posting.

I hope my understanding is correct. You can delete added body or component from the Fusion 360 Browser. Just right-click on it and choose delete.

If you have a really huge amount of components and bodies in the assembly and it is hard to find the exact one in the Browser, you can also right-click the element in the assembly and choose the "Find in Browser" option"

The original model will not be affected after deleting it from an assembly. It is a separate file. Although, it is linked to the assembly (chain icon next to the body/component in the Browser) and it works both ways:

  • When you will perform a change in a model itself and save it, you will see the yellow exclamation mark next to it in the assembly. It means that the body/component is out of date and needs to be updated.
  • You can use the "Edit in place" option to perform changes to the body/component in the assembly. They will be visible in the model when you will open it in a separate tab.

If you want to make a body/component an independent part, just use the "Break Link" option (for example right-click in the Browser).
