Happy New Years Autodesk community! 🙂
Just a broad brushed question related to an issue I'd been having multiple times on many different projects using Fusion 360. Largely I'm wondering if my computer is just not capable of processing everything I'm doing in this program of. Seems as though the more involved my project the worse my issues with the program bogging down and getting the "not responding" error becomes. Many times, this is just while simply trying to save a project.
This latest one that I've been smoking my brain on has gone on for over a month or so with a project that I was having to recreate some text for plasma cutting (everything is just plasma cutting). Well, the text was a logo and I was unable to find a matching font. I was pretty involved (for my level).. It had to look as though the letter was floating withing the design, so each letter had essentially two cuts around them. I was unable to find the font (probably wouldn't had done me much use anyway. but I had to recreate each letter. I had construction lines all over the place. I had more rectangles and circles and rectangles and circles within rectangles and circles. it was a mess and I have no idea if this was the right approach to recreating this or not. But to keep everything on even plane and symmetrical everything seemed to work out and within that hot mess was what I needed, and I just deleted and cut everything I didn't need. So eventually I was happy with the look.
So after all the text and the image designed above it I was eventually able to extrude and then manufacture. Most of the work seemed to load up fine with the tool paths.. I could click on each letter and it would grab the entire piece and all good. But two of the letters which were quite involved for me to recreate I was unable to grab the entire letter and had to grab each line indiviually. But even as such when creating the tool path it would leave me with tons of errors and would fail to create a tool path for those same letters. Despite finding some lines that didnt terminate properly at other points which I fixed several I was still left with the same issues.
Was just able to upload the file this morning and reach out but decided to just create a small file of only the letters I was having the issue with.. went through all the motions in the new file, extrude, manufacture, create tool paths... it all worked out great.. changed nothing from the original. I ended up using another new project file and simply copy and pasted the entire project over into a new project file and went through all the same motions and finally after weeks and weeks it set up the tool paths as I was needing! Of course, this new project files contained only the final sketches and nothing more.
So wondering if I'm just asking my computer to do too much.?? If that's even a thing? Small simple projects with a simple exploded text everything seems to be fine.
my computer is an HP
8 GB ram,
64 bit operating,
x64 based processor,
2.6 GH and 2.81 GH processor,
Windows 10
Again I got my project finally able to burn out.. But just curious if there couple be some computer limitations or if my issues are all user error. 🙂
