I m looking for a quick way to put a stopped chamfer (common in woodworking) on a number of edges in a model of a door. I have seen some solutions proposed in the past but they all look quite time consuming and I just wondered whether anyone had an ideas of a quick way to do this. Many thanks

Here's one way to make stopped chamfers:

It would probably be better to use a fillet with the radius of your cutter on the ends instead of the chamfer operation.  You should also use an exact measurement when creating the chamfer/fillet instead of eyeballing (technical CAD term Smiley Happy ) it.  Also use User parameters to control the distances of the main chamfers.  It will be much easier to modify the design later.

2 additional ways would be to use a sweep workflow, or a "split body" workflow.  (both will work on curved edges)

Here's an example using split body-
