"...selected feature is readonly..." and I cannot delete it.

After converting a mesh to BRep, first by inserting a base feature into timeline, then mesh->brep, I then want to delete the old mesh. But mesh object is now marked with a tiny universal "Not" symbol, and if I try to then delete it I get the message: "Warning: some selected object is readonly and cannot be deleted." I get this after I have exited the base feature and am back into the timeline.

If you edit the base feature in the timeline first, can you right click on the mesh body and delete it as desired?

It may be helpful to leave the mesh body in the design and simply toggle the visibility off by selecting the light bulb next to the body (while editing the base feature).

One other note, the red "Not" symbol can be changed by right clicking on the body in the browser and toggling Selectable/Unselectable.

I hope that helps!

The mesh body cannot be deleted under any circumstances, including if I flip "Selectable/unselectable" to turn off the "not" symbol. The mesh part cannot be isolated (nor therefore deleted) in the timeline as it was imported under a "base feature" timeline icon from an iges mesh. I had to convert the mesh to a BRep to make it selectable for the purpose of manually (mousually?) exercising a joint it was associated with (meshes can't be grabbed to move a joint they are associated with but BReps can). I've also disassociated the mesh from the joint, replacing it with the new BRep version of the part, but still the leftover mesh can't be deleted.

I recorded an Autodesk  Screencast of me editing the basefeature via the timeline first and then deleting a mesh body from my design. Could you take a look at the below screencast and let me know if it helps?

If this doesn't help, would it be possible to share the design? You can send me a link via a Private Message if you prefer not to share the design publicly.

Good Luck!
