Question about thicken operation

HI

I created had body in sculpt mode which I converted and went into model mode, and it became one of those bodies with the orange "open body" icon, or whatever, that I needed to thicken.

I did a "thicken" operation on it, and I got a new body, but the body does not look any thicker, and I get this additional item in the browser labeled "Thicken1" that is not a body.  What is this "Thicken1" item and why didn't my body thicken?  I have never seen that item before, but then again, this is the first time I have used Fusion in a while since the last update.

Also, when I tapped to "thicken" on the menu, I can type in "1" on the thickness, and the software starts doing things and my machine slows down, but I really wanted to type "1.2"  for 1.2 mm, not just 1.  It does not let me type any more - it just starts spinning my CPU.

I think I figured out why my thicker body did not look any thicker -- I had my scale wrong!    Thickening by 1 mm did nothing visible.

But, I still don't know what that "Thicken1" item on the browser means

Thanks

It's the name off the operation in your timeline.

So if you had a lot off bodys that you thickened they would be labeled Thicken1 too how many there are, and if you wanted to edit the 3rd one you did you would edit Thicken3.

Some of fusion naming is a bit different and at time quite confusing.

Hi @itchytoes,

Thicken is sometimes an expensive operation, which is why it can take a while to compute.  As for typing "1.2", there are a couple of tiny tricks that can help.  Fusion has a small delay built into the text entry field. If you keep typing, it shouldn't start the calculation until you pause for a bit.  Unfortunately, if you miss that window, then it will start to calculate at "1".  If that happens, then the less-stressful way to modify it is in the Parameters dialog.  In that dialog, the timer is not active, and you can take your time and change the "1" to "1.2" without having to type quickly.
