Pyramid Shell

I am trying to create a pyramid shape in 10 stages using the loft command.  I started out by created a sketch for each block with each block smaller than the other with the loft command, but when I do, it looks like a soft cone instead of a rigid pyramid shape.

Then I started over and created a sketch for each tier and made each tier with its own loft command, which ended up a success but there must be a better way.

The next step is to create a shell but I'm having an issue with it as it would only grab the bottom tier.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,

Loft will do that with 2 sketches,

base sketch, and a new sketch at top, with a single point.

Play with profile settings, but

if you want independent edges between the two, create Rail sketches, but must be new sketch for each rail due to the top point connection, and the chaining settings, make a difference.

Might help.....

This will be an easy one to solve.

File>Export and then Attach the *.f3d file of your attempt here.

Shell only works on a single body.  If you have multiple bodies in your pyramid, combine them.

Do you want a stepped pyramid or flat sides?

Here is the file.  Not sure what I did wrong here.  I need to create a shell for the steps and the thickness needs to be .2cm

Thanks again!

About everything 😉

I bet you have not watched a single tutorial on how to properly design things in Fusion 360.

1. You did not fully constrain and dimension your sketches.

2. Your construction method is convoluted an this can be done much simpler and with more robust techniques

3. You should never use this form of a 3D sketch for all the lofts.

4. The fillets in these sketches should be done as solid features, not in the sketch.

Attached is a model where this can be accomplished in 2 sketches. One is a bit more complicated than I'd usually like and there are numerous other ways to create this geometry.

Thanks for the help! This is what I was looking for as well as what the TheCADWhisperer provided as well. I am learning as I go so I have not looked at all of the tutorials yet.  Thanks again!

@TrippyLighting

Somehow I suspect @RJK42  will miss the subtleties of your parameters.

Probably 😉

It wants the most efficient way to design this. I believe your design covers that !

Well I had all kinds of trouble with Sketch2.  It was just about enough frustration for me to fire off an email to Andrew.

(Second simple problem this morning where I ran into sketcher issues that I do not normally experience in my other softwares.)

Now that I have done it once, I could do it much more quickly - and perhaps have a fully constrained sketch, but I had zero confidence in the OP's dimensions so didn't try to track down the issue. (I did find where I missed a coincident in Sketch1 to construction line.)
