Projecting onto surface and editing appearance

Hello! I have been wracking my brains trying to figure out a way to do this and I am convinced that there is no way to do it.

I have a model for a prototype car I am working on and I am trying to add windows. What I have done so far is get the square size of the window and project it onto the top of the car to get the shape. I then broke the link between the projection and the original square to get them to sketch lines. From here, I am stuck. I am unable to edit the appearance of the shape from the projection nor can I make it an actual shape I can edit. My goal is to just turn this shape transparent. Any help would be much appreciated. If pictures are needed, I can add them.

Thank you!

Projected curves, even after breaking link to original, at not going to be editable.  From what your describing, I think you may not be going about this in a productive way anyway.  Post some pics, maybe attach the file.

you can insert pics directly into your post by selecting the "PHOTOS" icon at the top of the reply window.

To attach a file, go to "FILE" menu, and export your file as a .f3d, then "ATTACH" at the bottom of your post.

These are pictures of the model I have. I am just trying to turn that shape from the projected sketch transparent for the windows.

For what you are trying to do, projecting curves is unnecessary and the wrong technique. What you should be doing is to use the original sketch elements and use the “split face” or “ split body” command to split off the surface that you want to apply a window material to.

Exactly! There isn't even a need for projection, just use the 2d rectangle as the splitting tool and set it to extended
