projected face is giving multiple sketch lines, rejected by laser cutter

hey guys, just had some DXF's rejected from a laser cutter because there is a lot of hidden lines apparently and they could not fix it, the laser cutter software was going crazy when they imput the files for toolpath also this is the same shop I get files sent to all the time

the thing is I am not doing anything different to my normal workflow which is: create the component, then when I am finished ill do a final run around and project each cut face onto a new sketch and create DXF from that.

i really don't have the time to long press on each individual line to see if there is something hiding underneath and delete/draw new lines.

i read that Autocad has a merge line command specifically for this which is great but obviously no help to me here.

does anyone know any quick fixes for this?

which face are you projecting? projecting the face that's planner to the sketch plane should only be projecting a single line.  projecting the face that is normal to the sketch plane will produce 2.  can you attach a sample model?

I use the DXFer Addin  from Github.

Select all part faces required, produces one dxf File.  Use layers not blocks.

I am not sure if there are duplicate lines, haven’t noticed that.

Might help....

hey,

i may initially have been projecting from an adjacent face, not the one I sketched onto but this hasn't been n issue in the past from memory.

dunno, but to get it super clean I had to hide all bodies besides the one I was working on (I hope that sentence comes up by itself in google search haha) and then hide that one just to check there were no duplicates as there is no way to tell natively.

thanks for your input guys!

Hi,

If you want to remove a overlapping line, this is how to do it:

double line delete.gif
analyse > identify > delete

Yes you can manually audit the entire sketch to remove duplicate lines. Can be super time consuming on large sketches.

Would be nice for an option/check box to collapse all lines/merge into single
