Project line to surface: How do you transform projected line as solid lines

Hi All,

Please see attached images.

The design isn't a body; it is currently a surface. I have to amend the surface by sectioning it before a can change it to a body. This is the reason I used the project to surface function.

I have 2 questions:

1. From Image 1, how do I convert the projected lines (in purple) into a solid line and also edit them so that I can extrude art of the surface?

2. From Image 1 & 2, the surface is broken into many pieces. how can I make it into 1 piece? In the second Image, I have just changed the visual style to "shaded" only but it does not change the surface parts.
