Problems with Screw Thread XML File Persistence

I've posted in the past about creating custom screw threads. What I've gleaned from others out there is that the general method is to create or modify the XML files for thread data in the Fusion 360 AppData\... directory. I've done this successfully in the past to make a custom ACME lead screw for this part (.400" DIA). This was all well and good until the next Fusion 360 update wiped out my custom file and changed the thread to the closest standard size. Someone suggested that I create a new XML file to store custom threads because the updater will leave that file alone. I tried that, but Fusion 360 doesn't recognize the thread as an ACME thread.
I would like to be able to use my XML file like this (a different custom thread, but same idea - I realize that the threads here are the same as the regular spec.). Fusion 360 uses the <Name></Name> element to recognize the thread as ACME, so my threads do not have the proper tooth profile - only the proper lead. If I change the <Name> field to: <Name> ACME Screw Threads </Name>, Fusion 360 will now see it as ACME, but it won't let me pick my custom thread from the dropdown menu- only the threads in the regular ACME field.
My request is that in a future update, Fusion 360 be updated such that it does not use the <Name> field to define thread geometry, but rather an additional XML element which specifies the thread geometric type so that custom threads can persist updates.
Are there any workarounds to this that anyone knows of?
