Problems with current v.2.0.1144 - Can I revert back to 2.0.1082?

I found my imac system is completly unisable with this version. Freezes every time I try to rotate. Inclusive some pieces made before can't press pull. If you uncheck anti-aliasing under visual effects the rotation works fine but the "look" is much worse than earlier version 😞

 

Is there any way to installe the 2.0.1082 version?

I moved this to a new post so we can track the issue better.

 

Is anyone else with an iMAC having this same type of performance issues?

Can you provide us the specs of your iMac as well as the OSX version you are running? 

It may be related to the current graphics issue that we're actively fixing, but it may also be an unique issue.

Yes, I see this after updating. The system is unusable if anti aliasing is checked. I have not seen freezes but the rotation and movement is very slow and jerky.  At first I thought it was the space navigator driver, but it's the same with the view cube. 

 

Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

Software  OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)

Hi Ron,

 

Thanks for the information. Are you seeing this on pretty much any design or relatively large designs? I understand the issue is new after the latest update but trying to get as much information as possible to get to the bottom of this one. 

 

1. Does this happen on rotate of any design?

1a.)If it happens on certain designs would you be will to share them to help diagonise this issue btter?

 

2. Can you please share information from system profiler? http://guides.macrumors.com/System_Profiler - This link has all the infomation to generate the xml.

I'm seeing it in very simple designs. When I opened a new one and checked anti aliasing again, it seemed ok at first, but switching to another design file I had open and then back it was very jerky. The other file did have a decal element.

Can you try disabling "gesture based navigation" in the Fusion 360 preferences to see if this has any impact? See the below article for further information:

No, disabling gesture based navigation gave the same performance if anti-aliasing was on.

Hi inaid,

 

Would it be possible to post your iMac's hardware specifications here too? Or we can collect that information privately if you prefer.

 

We made some signficant upgrades to the graphics in this update, and it's possible that this issue is related to hitting the graphics memory limit for machines with lower graphics memory running at a high resolution. It's probably worth trying to run at a lower resolution (System Preferences > Displays > set Resolution to Scaled) and seeing if this helps?

 

We're also currently investigating a seperate graphics related issue, which we hope to fix soon; but at the moment we're not certain that these two are related.

We just pushed an update to fix the other graphics issue I referred to (new version number is 2.0.1145). As I mentioned, we're not sure that these two issues are related, but do let us know whether or not you see any improvement/change after restarting following the update.

I just got back to Fusion, but as far as I can tell on my system the update fixed the issue with anti-aliasing.

Many thanks for the update, that's great to hear! We suspected both were issues related to stressing the graphics memory, so it is possible that this update fixed both.

Sorry, I diddn't revceive any email answer notification to my post so I discovered this today.

My iMac is:

 

Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory  16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

Software  OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)

In my case I just installed the 2.0.1149 and the problem is still there. Very weel without antialiasing but unusable with it checked.

Another thing to check: do you have Ambient Occlusion enabled? If so, let me know if disabling this makes any difference.

 

And is everything consistently slow? Or does the motion smoothen in certain circumstances? (e.g. after rotating the view for some time, or using Press Pull on the sides of a box).

Hate to bring this up again, but after not using Fusion for several days, I opened the same file I had been working on and had the same jerky, unusable graphic performance as before the update.  This file had been working fine with anti-aliasing on, now I can only use it with anti-aliasing off. 

 

Being in software myself, i know how much we love intermittent problems...

Hi Ron,

 

Thanks for raising this, and sorry to hear this hasn't been resolved for you. We're still looking into this, but I'm afraid we don't have any leads for fixing this yet. We think it's a combination of 27" iMac (= high resolution screen) + old-ish memory card (= ~0.5Gb video mem) that's likely resulting in the graphics memory getting mexed-out when anti-aliasing is on. Afraid we only have workarounds so far (scaling-down the screen resolution might be another way to prevent this... not sure if that's preferable though!). Will keep you posted if there's any progress.
