Problems creating mechanical drawings

So I need to get some designs off to a friend so he can cut and bend some sheet metal for me.  I have the 3d model all set up and it is rocking but he needs the dimensions so he can set it up on his end.  So I want to get him some tech drawings with dimensions.  Seems easy enough, but every time I select a single component to ship over to the drawing function, the whole program freezes and I have to force quit it.  This is on a 2009-ish mac running Yosemite 10.10.5 with 8gb of ram and a 2.53GHz duo core processor.  Fusion runs pretty well on this computer.  I will try this on my Windows 8 laptop when I get a chance but I would like it to run on the mac as I do most of my work on it vs the laptop.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry you are having issues creating drawings.  I have a few questions to start with that hopefully will help us narrow down the issue.  Do you have this issue with very simple components on your Mac?  Were you able to create drawings on your Windows 8 computer?  Have you ever been able to create a drawing on your Mac?

Once you have replied I will have some follow on questions and we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you,

The Component I was trying to make a drawing of was a relatively simple part as it is to be made out of sheet metal and bent into shape. I have not had a chance to see if I can make it happen on my laptop yet thanks to a busy weekend, but I will try a little bit later today. I seem to recall that I messed around with drawings at one point. But really this is the first time I have needed to make one.

So I tried it on my Windows laptop and it worked just fine. A Little laggy at first (its far from a high end machine), but it got the job done.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry it has taken me this long to respond.  I did some analysis of all of your recent Crash Error Reports (CER's) and noticed a recent one while opening a drawing on your Mac. Are you still unable to create drawings on your Mac?  From your most recent CER, it appears you can open drawings.  Is that correct?  I would like to look into your crash with the drawing "Support Rib Drawing".  Is that crash reproducible?  If so, I will send you instructions on how to send me the drawing.  Again sorry for the delay.

Thank you,

Kris Berg
