For some reason I cant seam to get the split body function to work any longer using the face of a intersection object, I have tried doing splitting even a simple cylinder and it just says compute failed I have tried using booth the curved and the flat surfaces and nether will split it however using a plane will however that doesn't solve the problem of splitting the body with the curved surface. Any ideas?

It is a bit ambiguous what you want to do but I am assuming you are looking for this end result:

When you selective splitting tool it selects the entire surface of the wing, the upper and the lower surface. that creates a problem. So create a copy of that surface by offsetting it (in the surface tab) by 0 mm.

Then unstitch to get two separate surfaces.

With those you can split that body.

hi many thanks for that, i actually managed to figure that method just before you posted, its strange though as it used to work fine without creating the extra surfaces so not sure why its different now but never mind, just an extra step.
