Problem Changing Properties

I've generated a drawing from an assembly with the corresponding table/BOM which is auto-generated with reference to the model from which the drawing is generated. The Table has columns of data referencing the properties of the various bodies of the assembly. I watched a tutorial on how to change these properties, it is fairly simple:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/getting-started/caas/screencast/Main/Details/0fc56...

The problem I am having is that when I follow this method and open the 'Properties' dialog box for the bodies whose properties I need to edit (in this case Part Number), the text is not editable, there appears to be no way to change the properties in this manner on my Fusion 360 (I am using a Windows version, but can hardly imagine that causing the problems here). I have tried on the part model and on the assembly model, there seems to be no other way I can find to achieve this. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The change you want is done from the Properties, of each component, in the assembly.  Take a look at the screencast for the process.  If you right click on the component, select Properties, you will get the dialog box shown below.  Change the part number here, save it, and then update the drawing and it will update the Parts List.

Here is a quote from my original post:

"The problem I am having is that when I follow this method and open the 'Properties' dialog box for the bodies whose properties I need to edit (in this case Part Number), the text is not editable, there appears to be no way to change the properties in this manner on my Fusion 360..."

As I said, I followed the directions on the screen cast and when the dialog box shown in the first image of your post appears, the text for the part name and part number are grey and cannot be edited, this is the problem I need to solve:

The component (not "body") you are accessing is almost certainly an externally referenced one.  Does the browser have the link symbol in it?

If so, then to change the properties of that component, you will need to open it in its own tab and change the properties there.

You are correct, I was accessing it through the assembly, thus only the reference as opposed to the actual part.

I had tried to access the same dialog box on the model itself (open in a separate tab), but when I open the dialog box it doesn't display the properties I expect to see, which are the ones I need to change:

I don't understand why this is happening or how to work around it, I'm surprised the instructions given in the linked video from my original post don't apply in my situation. I need to do this as I'm updating my company's catalog to 3D CAD from 2D, which means including stock codes on the BOM tables generated for the assembly, so changing these properties is pretty vital!

here is a quick video explaining how properties such as part name and number work with external components

Oh right, I see where I was going wrong. Thank you for helping me with that, it's very much appreciated.

is there any way to remove the component version (i.e. v1, v2, etc.) under the part name tab? also, how can I edit the item number?

It is not possible to remove the Version number from the component name.  The answer to the second question is Yes but ONLY if you have subscribed to the Fusion 360 Manage Extension.
