Printed Manual or "For Dummies" style guide

I am deaf and the how to videos are of very limited use to me. Is there any sort of printed material I could use, either classroom in a book or dummies guide or similar? I was told that Fusion 360 was very intuitive but I can't seem to get any sort of handle on it at all, very frustrating as people keep saying what I want to do is easy and "just use Fusion 360" - I am sure it would be if I knew what to do!

Hi @Anonymous,

Sorry that content authored in the how to videos don't provide visual assistance.  However, there are many youtube videos created by both Autodesk employees as well as Customers.  Turn on Closed Captioning in the youtube video.  Some of the captioned text maybe off a bit depending on the accent of the speaker.  You could search for example on "Fusion 360 Sketching" or "Fusion 360 Modeling" or simply "Fusion 360" in youtube which should return plenty of content to choose from.

Thank you I will try that.
Hope our non-broadband internet connection will not take to long to buffer the videos.

Sorry but the video with caption was too frustrating. By the time i had read the caption the video was way past the demonstration and I had no idea of where the cursor had been or what it was doing.

I NEED printed material I can work through. Videos do not work for deaf people. Sorry but I think I need a program with proper training material and goof though Fusion 360 is supposed to be I will never know.

Very upset and feel humiliated at this failure.

I agree with everything you have said and have even tried to explain all of this to AD, but they don't agree that it is very important to have printed or at least online projects and procedures in a document style rather then just videos.

Can I ask what exactly are you trying to make?

I am working on some training in a document format, maybe I can help.

I want to make some craft templates using a 3D printer.

A very basic description would be a rectangle of material, say 100 mm square with a 15 mm slot in it. The slot will take various bends and curves. Once I know the basic thing works I'll have to add registration marks. I'll also be wanting to make a marking template to put registration marks onto the base material to enable me to line up the fancy template ..... sort of like a routing pantograph.

I have had some trial items laser cut but this gets expensive in time and cost when I just want to make small tweaks. The laser cutting people have a minimum 2 week turn round which is too long.

This is not your failure! 5-15 minute videos don't work for many people and by no means can video replace in-depth documentation.

If you can describe what it is you are trying to create @PhilProcarioJr and I can help you through your struggles.

Thanks for your help but I have come to the conclusion that the lack of support from the supplier is going to cause a lot of problems for me. I will be offline for around 5 weeks as I go in for medical treatment - was hoping to use this time to learn the program but obviously this can't happen if the learning material is not available in the format I need. Sorry folks but I will look for a different program.

I know this is an old thread, but I too prefer written manuals. I have watched the videos in frustration as they don't get to my question quickly enough, if at all. For me reading a multi-chapter user manual front to back is the most in depth and comprehensive, and actually probably takes less time in the long run than Googling the problem and wading through videos to find the solution. I hope you found your solution, and try not to feel humiliated. It's not you.
